Alles inklusive is the result from the examination and discussion of the topic shelter. The title refers to the urge of people of the Western world, to escape from their everyday lives and to spend some time in another reality. A reality where everything is pleasant, cosy, comfortable and gracious – the perfect bubble of avoidance.
By repeating the same image and the geometrical shape of the object, one can get the impression by looking closer, that this place may not be as comfortable as it seems. The partially open roof symbolizes invitation and provides to sneak a peek into the inside of the object. Through the given transparency and the incoming light, the windows work like a filter, blurry and indistinct – exactly how we like it.
This Artwork plays with the irony of life. It wants to provide a mental playground and to force the observer to be a part of creating an illusion. Alles inklusive is a metaphor full of longings.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
• The roof comes in one piece and is removable
• The windows are printed with a cliché picture of a palm beach, downloaded from the Internet.
• The prints were made by a UV printer
• The transparent material allows the incidence of light
• The geometric shape of the object underlines the monotony
• Each window frame was built individually and then hung together with handmade angles.
• The frame of the roof also consists of individual wooden strips and was fitted with a large polypropylene panel at the end
• The corners of the roof end exactly with the lower part of the object
